What Are You Reading Wednesday

I saw this type of posts on booksthething.com and thought it would be fun to have a go at it. ‘What Are You Reading Wednesday’ is a segment hosted by itsareadingthing.com in which you have to answer three questions pertaining to the book you are currently reading. The questions are:

1. What’s the name of your current read?

2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share one complete sentence.

3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

So here are my answers for this week:

1. What’s the name of your current read?

I’m currently reading or should I say rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling.

2.Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share one complete sentence.

“Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia had managed to find excuses for his bad marks as usual; Aunt Petunia always insisted that Dudley was a very gifted boy whose teachers didn’t understand him, while Uncle Vernon maintained that ‘he didn’t want some swotty little nancy boy for a son anyway’.”

Side-note: Shouldn’t the “him” be suppressed? I’m greatly bothered by its presence. That might be the future editor in me talking but I’m annoyed.

3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

Is that even a question? Who wouldn’t want to live in a world where Ron Weasley exists? Even though the magical world is a terrifying place at times, I’m still eagerly waiting for my Hogwarts later to arrive. I so want this world to exist that when I was younger, every time I say a plane at night, I told myself it was Arthur Weasley’s flying car. Finally, throughout the series, Muggles are depicted as oblivious and I don’t want to be associated with this sort of people. Next year, I’m possibly moving to an apartment right by Kings Cross Station so I might just go to platform 9 and 3/4 and catch the Hogwarts express. Who knows?

I might do more of these posts in the future. They’re short and sweet and I like that. They are a great alternative for when I’m don’t feel inspired enough to write a long-winded article.

Toodles,

Pow.

  1. I am currently reading Murder on the Links, by Agatha Christie.

Pg. 34: “But when he spoke, it was tamely and awkwardly, and his comment was ludicrously inappropriate to the solemnity of the moment. ‘He wore his overcoat very long,’ he said constrainedly.”
    (Agatha Christie is hilarious!)

Would I live in this world? Well we all sort of live in this world, because it is this world (reality lol). But it is in history, so maybe for a little bit, but I think I like this time better!

Love this idea, check out my blog if you have time:
